Free Flight Festival in Ilbesheim - 2011

We had a wonderful Free Flight Festival in Ilbesheim with 4 events - 2 World CUP contests, sunrise and EUROPA COUPE Revival contests and 3 EURO Challenge contests 2 in F1H and 1 in F1G.
We had a great contest with best results, happy participants but also challenging weather conditions:

Day 1: on Saturday we had to stop the flying at 10”30 after round 1 due strong wind over the limit and can continue after 16”00 till 20”45 the 5 rounds.
Day 2: at 6”00 Fly off and Sunrise in wonderful dead air conditions, at 10”00 EUROPA COUPE Revival at best freeflight contest (very hot and low wind, sometimes round running wind)
Day 3: similar on Sunday morning a break from 9 “00 till 14”00 due to thunderstorm.

We had 162 online - registrations, there of only 2 registration on site. 150 are coming from 23 countries - there of Mongolia, Argentina and USA and all together made nearly 1600 officials flights at this weekend.

It was a huge weekend and we had best support of Ilbesheim local clubs in preparing food, in assistance of infrastructure and a very nice banquet.
I can say, that more or less all people were happy to be in Ilbesheim and speaking about “having long time ago not such a great contest like Ilbesheim “.

After my calculations we had in Ilbesheim in all 3 categories changes of actual World CUP leaders in F1A/B/C:

F1A: New leader Mikhail Kosonozhkin with better 4th result against Roland Koglot.
F1B: New leader Bernd Silz with 3 wins - Andriukov could beat him, but dropped at last flight of Eifelpokal.
F1Q: New leader Andreas Lindner win both contests in Ilbesheim and has now 3 wins.

Borut Žulic - F1A Slovenia

Borut to F1A, when we travel to Slovenia in July 2009 was one of those who received us in his city, took care of us as if we were known has always, invited us to practice on the field of his club and then go and spend an incredible afternoon and stay in a bar with him and his friends, I will never forget those moments. I was one of the fan of his web site, his work in it was really important to make the freeflight of Slovenia known around the world.

My condolences to his family, friends and Damian, her brother.

May he rest in peace.
