Saturday, February 4, the first contest of the Freeflight Cordoba Championship started at 6:30 in Embalse, the same place of the World Championship.
The weather showed a perfect day for freeflight, calm wind of around 2 or 3 km/h and temperature of 21° with no thermals. The conditions of field were no good for towing and for rescue models but perfect for the landing of modes with paper cover, the grass has more than 80 cm. tall but nobody stooped, the models were in the air all day. In the first round just the F1A fliers dropped their first flights because the problems with the grass but after that, the help of the thermal let all the fliers get their maxes. The last flight was at 11:30 and the weather was near the same as the beginning but with more thermals, just the temperature was up, it was around 28°. At the end the contest showed just 2 F1B fliers with the complete maxes scores, Juan Giol from Mendoza and Alejandro Marchese from Cordoba were ready for the F.O.
The F.O. was held at 8:00pm. near the old barracks, the weather at this moment was a little windy, 15km/h from the north-west and the sky showed a lot of storms around the area but till the the end of the contest the rain didn’t appear. Alejandro launched immediately when his models was ready for it and Juan Giol no, he had problems with his first rubber motors and he took a little more time for to be ready, after that Juan took more time waiting for better air and he took it, his model flew in better air than Alejandro’s model so the score was better, Alejandro landed at 284 sec. and Juan flew more til the timekeeper lost the model behind the trees in the south-east part of the field but the time in flight at that moment was 20sec. more than Alejandro so Juan was the winner of the contest. After that the organiser made the prize ceremony at the field.
The next official contest in Argentina will be the Ranking of F1A and F1B for to be in France 2013, it will at Villa MarĂa – Cordoba, the 11 of March, I hope will see a lot of fliers there.
Regards,
Ramiro.
